Relax
It's not the end of the world.
Do you remember the movie “The Net” with Sandra Bullock?
Or “War Games” with Matthew Broderick”?
If you’re not as old as I am, good for you! But maybe “I, Robot” with Will Smith is something you’ve seen.
Look deeper.
They are all movies using new technology to scare the pants off of you.
Technology that turned out to be safe, and world changing.
The Net used the Internet to scare you. What if it goes wrong?? (We now carry a tracking device in our pockets every day.)
War Games was all about how scary computers could be if we turn them loose. They still haven’t blown up the planet.
Granted, we don’t yet have robots, so who knows how that will turn out.
My point is that every new technology is scary. Hell, they have tried to shut down everything before it matured, including telegraphs and television. They didn’t have movies to do it, but you can find old posters for both.
Everything new is scary. Until it isn’t.
AI is one to watch. It’s growing and maturing exponentially, and we’re almost at a point where it will be able to iterate itself. That sounds a little scary, even to me.
We can look to Ultron to see what Hollywood thinks will happen. If you’re old enough, you can read Isaac Asimov. They will take over the world!!
Or maybe they won’t. If everything new is bad, and it all works out well, how scary can AI really be?
Here’s the thing…
AI will not take your job. But someone who knows how to use AI will.
Don’t get left behind because it might not work out well.
Start learning everything you can about it right now.
Start using it.
And relax. Everything will be fine. ;)
